Mr. Jenkins shown above with Yankee shortstop Derek Jeter at the Negro League Museum Legacy Awards Night will be the first non-Yankee to visit the Mickey Mantle Classic.
What a way to break the chain but to have a Hall of Fame member with strong Oklahoma ties!
The "King of the Hill" lived in Guthrie Oklahoma for over 10 years while also serving on the Board of the Guthrie Sports Museum. He is a former Oklahoma rancher and past coach of the Oklahoma 89ers.
Mr. Jenkins will be in attendance for autographs and a meet and greet session on Saturday April 14, 2007 at the championship games of the Mickey Mantle Classic.
There also will be a private dinner Friday night April 13 7 - 9:30 with Ferguson Jenkins to help raise awareness and funds for the Mickey Mantle Museum. The dinner will be held at the 1st Christian Church in Miami, Oklahoma. Ticket price of $40 includes dinner and an autographed photo of Hall of Fame member Ferguson Jenkins. Door prizes, silent auction, and a live auction will also be held along with updates and information on the Mickey Mantle Sports Complex and Museum project. Click here to read about items that will be available for auction.
Tickets go on sale Wednesday March 21, 2007 and are available at the following locations:
Commerce High School, Commerce City Hall, Miami News-Record, The Gym,
and L M Convenience Store.
Ticket price of $40 includes: meal, autographed photo of Fergie Jenkins, free admission to
Mickey Mantle Classic championship games on Saturday.
